Panes#

In addition to the navigator and the item editor, Colectica Designer provides several panes that show information about the item you are working with, or about the application as a whole.

Buttons for the panes are located in the lower right corner of the Colectica Designer window.

Click a button to show its pane. Click the same button again to hide the pane. Only one pane is shown at a time, so clicking a different button replaces the current pane.

Note

Add-ins can contribute additional panes, so the exact set of buttons may vary between installations.

History#

The History pane lists the revision history of the item that is currently open. Each revision shows the date and time of the change, who made the change, and any notes entered when the change was saved. You can also select two revisions to compare them.

Progress#

The Progress pane shows the status of long-running operations that Colectica Designer runs in the background. While an operation is running in the background, you can continue to browse and edit other items.

When a long-running operation starts, the Progress pane opens automatically. If you close the pane, you can reopen it at any time by clicking the Progress button.

Each operation in the list shows:

  • the name of the operation, such as Generate Documentation or Validate Metadata

  • the current status of the operation, which is one of Running, Complete, or Failed

  • an animated progress bar while the operation is running

When an operation finishes, its progress bar disappears, its status changes to Complete or Failed, and the entry is shown in gray. If an operation fails, Colectica Designer also displays a message describing the problem.

Completed operations remain in the list until you close Colectica Designer, so you can review what has been run during the current session.

The following commands run in the background and report their status in the Progress pane:

  • Generate Documentation

  • Generate DDI 2, Generate DDI 3.1, Generate DDI 3.2, and Generate DDI 3.3

  • Validate Metadata and Validate with XPaths

  • Compare With

  • Gather Referenced Items

  • Deprecate and Undeprecate

  • Delete from Repository

  • Upgrade classification to DDI 3.3 structure

Add-ins may also report their own operations in the Progress pane.

If no long-running operations have been started during the current session, the Progress pane is empty.
