Apply Metadata from Another Dataset

To apply metadata from another dataset, use the Apply Metadata from Dataset command.

1. Navigate to a dataset.

2. Click the Apply Metadata from Dataset button on the ribbon.

3. Select the dataset from which you would like to copy metadata.

4. A summary of changes will be displayed.

Information is copied from the dataset according to the following rules.

• For every variable in the target dataset, a corresponding variable is located in the source dataset. This variable is found if the variable names match exactly.

• When a match is found, the following information is copied from the source variable to the target variable.

  • Variable label

  • Variable description

  • Variable data type, including code list

• If no match is found, no action is taken.
