Colectica supports a variety of metadata item types that allow you to document your datasets, data collection processes, and research lifecycles. See the Colectica Information Model for details on the different types of items you can work with in Colectica.
In Colectica Designer, a checkout is an item or set of items in your local database. A checkout can be published to a repository.
See Publish to Colectica Repository for details on managing checkouts with Colectica Designer.
Method 1: Create an Item using the Ribbon¶
From the Colectica ribbon tab, choose Create New Checkout.

Browse to the search page for the type of item you would like to create.
Click the Add button next to to the item type.
Enter a name for the new item.

See Integration with Existing Systems for information on importing information from custom or proprietary formats.
