Define a Quality StandardΒΆ

In order for institutions to provide staff with a fixed set of Compliance Statements that should be recorded as part of a quality statement, Colectica allows institutions to create Quality Standard definitions, and provides several of these as examples. A Quality Standard definition contains two parts:

  • Citation information for the standard being defined

  • A reference to a DDI Concept Scheme, which contains the concept hierarchy for which Compliance Statements should be provided

When creating a new Quality Declaration, a user can choose the Implement Quality Standard command to automatically populate the quality statement with the appropriate fields. The user can then record the appropriate information.

  1. In Local Items, navigate to the Quality section and choose Quality Standards.

  4. Press OK to create the quality standard.

Now that the Quality Standard is created, the most important information to include is the Concept Set that includes the defining concepts of the quality standard. If an appropriate Concept Set does not already exist, you can create one.

  6. Click the Search button on the concept set item picker.

  7. Select the concept set that includes the appropriate quality-related concepts.

  8. The quality standard is now ready.

  9. If you like, you can also fill in additional information like a full citation for the quality standard.
